Statistics and Facts
- HIV will attack certain blood cells which are needed for the immune system to function.
- HIV can be transmitted through anal, oral, and vaginal sex, but also through sharing needles with someone who is infected.
- There are 944, 000 cases in the US to date; 530, 000 deaths. Worldwide, 43 million are living with HIV or AIDS and 25 million have died.
Symptoms
- Women- things like fever, sore throat, tiredness, and swollen lymph glands can appear. HIV/AIDS can also copy symptoms from other viruses.
- Men- same as women.
Damages
- Women- the immune system will break down and eventually cause death. HIV/AIDS can also be passed to the baby from the mother when pregnant.
